Found furniture animal sculptures by Marc Sparfel

PETIT-LYON-by-Marc-SparfelThese incredible animal sculptures by Marc Sparfel have a primitive aesthetic achieved through the reuse and reconfiguration of found furniture. Sparfel grew up in Brittany, north-west France surrounded by countryside and animals. After graduating from school, he studied commerce in Tours before working as a technician in a puppet theatre in Orleans, Paris. Moving to Barcelona in 1999, he was immediately intrigued by the amount of furniture abandoned in the street and decided to do something with it. He gradually began to incorporate these materials into his sculptures, first in a long series of masks, inspired by tribal African artwork, and then animals. His work has been exhibited internationally. Pictured above – Petit Lyon.
