Lucid Stead desert shack art installation

Lucid Stead desert shack art installation

This beautiful installation is by American artist Phillip K. Smith.  ‘Lucid Stead’ is a weathered 70 year old homesteader desert shack in the Joshua Tree desert, California. Transformed with mirrors and LED panels.

By day mirrors on the outside of the structure reflect its surroundings giving the impression of a floating mirage.  At night, coloured light illuminates from inside the desert shack. The artist says, “This project is about tapping into the desert, into the pace of change and is about responding to the quiet of the place. And ultimately, in that quiet, the project begins to unfold.  The project really is about slowing down…stopping and being quiet so you can truly see and listen.”  Via Beautiful Decay
