Out of the Dark aren’t just giving a new lease of life to old furniture, they’re helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the process. This brilliant social enterprise was founded by Jay and Jade Blades and is an extension of Street Dreams. The organisation runs projects to steer young people away from crime and build their self esteem. By restoring and revamping salvaged furniture, under 25s learn craft, DIY and work skills to help them get into paid employment. To coincide with The London Design Festival this month, furniture store Heal’s has invited Out of the Dark to showcase their pieces as part of their Heal’s Discovers range.
