An enormous thank you goes out to Professor Gunter Pauli for his tremendous support for Upcyclist. Pauli is an entrepreneur, lecturer, author and commentator in culture, science, politics, sustainability and the environment. His twenty books, including Upcycling (1999) have been published in 34 languages. He was CEO of Ecover and initiated the Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives (ZERI) in partnership with the Japanese Government in the 1990s. He is also founder of The Blue Economy.
The Blue Economy began as a project to find 100 of the best nature-inspired technologies that could affect the economies of the world, while sustainably providing basic human needs – potable water, food, jobs, and habitable shelter. The Blue Economy aims to stimulating entrepreneurship and set up new standards towards sustainability. It strives to shift society from scarcity to abundance with what we have by tackling issues that cause environmental and related problems in new ways.
In his fantastic article, Pauli has cited Upcyclist as Case 83 of The Blue Economy. He says “Antonia operates like the Blue Economy community, creating a platform that inspires others to do more and better. She applies the open source principles and has the ingenuity to add beauty and style to her presentations that is likely to change the perception of anything unwanted forever while giving sense and purpose not only to our material world, but also to our professions and life style.” Read the full article here.
