Greeting ladies and gentlemen!
You have stumbled upon UPCYCLIST, a place in cyberspace dedicated to all things restored, renovated and transformed.
Upcycling is defined as ‘the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.’
In the wake of a recession, buying second hand is becoming the preferred option for many and a love of all things vintage continues to flourish.
We now take more notice of objects with a history and are moving away from all things shiny and mass-produced. This runs alongside an ever growing ‘greener’ conscience where many of us are striving to recycle at every opportunity.
This Upcycling phenomenon is giving rise to a new wave of creativity as well as a new way of perceiving the objects we already own.
UPCYCLIST features the most innovative Upcycling projects around, highlighting the immeasurable creative potential in seemingly useless objects. We hope to promote any process whereby discarded junk can be utilised to create something truly beautiful and unique, whilst simultaneously doing something beneficial for the environment.
Alongside features on brilliant Upcyclists around the world, UPCYCLIST touches on art, architectural projects and installations where found objects, reclaimed materials and disused spaces have been cleverly restored or transformed.
If you have a story that you think may be of interest to Upcycling fanatics across the globe, we want to hear from you!
